Why Avvizo

Buttons wait. Apps demand. Avvizo shows up.

Emergency pendants are reactive. Story apps are a project. Avvizo is the only service that combines proactive daily safety calls, family visibility, life story capture, a printed memoir, and voice preservation — through a phone call that asks nothing of the person receiving it.

vs. Medical alert systems
Life Alert, Medical Guardian, and similar pendant devices

An emergency button waits for the worst day. Avvizo works on all the others.

Medical alert pendants do one thing: when someone falls and is conscious and wearing the device, they can press a button. They're reactive by design — silent until disaster — and they cost $30–50/month for hardware many seniors quietly leave in a drawer because it makes them feel old.

Avvizo flips the model. We call them, every day, at the time they choose. A missed call triggers escalation within minutes — no button required, nothing to wear, nothing to charge. And because it's a conversation rather than an alarm, it also catches the slow declines a button never could: a flat mood that's lasted a week, confusion about medications, a mention of a stumble on the stairs.

Many families run both — a pendant for the catastrophic moment, Avvizo for the daily reality. But if your parent refuses the pendant (most eventually do), Avvizo is the safety layer they'll actually keep, because it doesn't feel like safety equipment. It feels like someone who cares calling to chat.

  • Comparable monthly price — without the hardware, contracts, or stigma
  • Detects gradual decline, not just acute emergencies
  • Plus everything a pendant can never do: stories, connection, a daily voice

They capture a weekend of interviews. We capture a life.

Story apps are built on a recording session: an app to install, a question list to work through, a project to finish. They depend on your loved one becoming the producer of their own memoir — and on the stories surviving the awkwardness of a microphone and a deadline. StoryFile's studio sessions run $500 to $5,000+. App-based services are cheaper but ask seniors to drive the technology themselves.

Avvizo never asks them to perform. Stories surface the way they do in real life — in the middle of a warm conversation, prompted gently, three days a week, for years. The archive that accumulates isn't an interview transcript; it's hundreds of hours of how they actually talk, laugh, and remember. That raw material is what makes the memoir book read like them — and what makes the Legacy voice preservation sound like them rather than a text-to-speech approximation.

And uniquely, the story capture rides on a service that's already earning its keep every single day as a safety net. You're not buying a memoir project. You're buying peace of mind that quietly produces one.

  • Zero tech adoption — works on the phone they already answer
  • Organic accumulation over years beats one-time capture, every time
  • Safety value from day one, legacy value forever
vs. Lone worker apps

Compliance that doesn't depend on a smartphone, an app, or cell data.

App-based lone worker tools assume every worker carries a charged smartphone with data coverage and remembers to open the app. In basements, rural routes, and dead zones, that assumption fails exactly when it matters. Avvizo's check-ins are phone calls — they reach any device that can ring, and our escalation, audit trail, and PDF/CSV compliance exports are built for WorkSafeBC §4.21–4.22, Alberta OHS Part 28, and Ontario OHSA §25.

  • Works wherever a phone rings — no app, no data plan required
  • Automated escalation with a timestamped audit trail
  • $15–25/worker/month with compliance exports included

Where Avvizo isn't the right fit

We'd rather you choose well than choose us. Three honest caveats:

We're not an emergency service

Avvizo doesn't replace 911, and a daily call isn't fall detection. If your loved one is at high risk of falls and would reliably wear a pendant, a medical alert device alongside Avvizo is a sensible combination.

It's a conversation, not surveillance

If what you want is GPS tracking and camera monitoring of a family member, we're deliberately not that. Avvizo is built on dignity: a call they look forward to, with their knowledge and consent at every step.

Legacy takes time, by design

A voice preservation worthy of the name needs months of natural audio. If you need a memorial product this month from existing recordings, a one-time-capture service may serve you better. If you have time, nothing else comes close.

The kindest safety net is the one they'll actually use.
