Getting Started
How does Avvizo work?
We make a daily AI phone call to your loved one at their preferred time — morning, midday, or evening, whatever works best for them. The AI has a warm, natural 5–7 minute conversation, checks on their mood and wellbeing, and logs a wellness summary to your family dashboard. If anything seems off, you hear about it right away.
Is it a real person calling?
Avvizo uses an AI voice assistant that sounds natural and warm — not robotic. It listens carefully, responds conversationally, and adapts to the person it's talking with. By law, and because we believe in transparency, the AI discloses at the start of every call that it's an automated system and that the call is recorded.
Do they need a smartphone?
No. We call their regular phone — landline or mobile. Zero technology needed from them. If they can answer a phone call, Avvizo works for them. That's the whole point.
How do I sign up?
Create an account at avvizo.com, tell us about your loved one (their name, phone number, preferred call time, and a little about their health and routine), pick a daily call time that suits them, and choose a plan. Setup takes about five minutes, and your loved one can receive their first call the very next day.
Can I use Avvizo for myself?
Absolutely. Many of our users sign up for their own daily check-in. Whether you live alone, work remotely, or simply want someone to know you're okay every day, Avvizo works just as well for you as it does for a loved one. Just set yourself as the person to call during setup.
Can my employer set this up for our team?
Yes — Avvizo offers a business plan designed for employers with lone workers, remote field staff, and anyone working in isolation. It meets WorkSafeBC Section 4.21/4.22, Alberta OHS, and Ontario OHSA requirements. Contact us at hello@avvizo.com for team pricing and setup.
Daily Calls
What happens during a call?
A warm 5–7 minute conversation checking on their day, mood, and wellbeing. The AI asks how they're feeling, listens to how they sound, gently checks in on any medication reminders they've set, and — on Story+ plans — occasionally weaves in a life story prompt. Every call ends with a cheerful goodbye and a reminder that someone cares.
What are the calling hours?
Weekdays 9am–9:30pm, weekends 10am–6pm in their local timezone. These hours comply with CRTC regulations in Canada. You choose the specific call time from within those windows, and it's the same time every day so your loved one always knows when to expect the call.
Can they skip a call?
Yes. You can skip any day from the dashboard — useful for holidays, medical appointments, or times when they'll be away. You can schedule a skip in advance or cancel a call right up until the scheduled time. Skipped calls are logged so your family's wellness timeline stays complete.
What if my parent doesn't want AI calls?
We recommend introducing Avvizo gently. Many people grow to enjoy the daily connection — especially those who live alone and appreciate having someone (or something) check in consistently. If they're hesitant, start with the Starter plan (SMS + app check-in) to ease them in, and upgrade to AI calls once they're comfortable.
I'm not a senior. Is Avvizo for me?
Avvizo is for anyone who wants a daily safety net. People in their 30s, 40s, and 50s living alone, remote workers, people recovering from surgery, anyone with a chronic condition, recently widowed individuals — our users span every age group. The daily call works the same way regardless of age.
Safety & Escalation
What happens if they don't answer?
We try again twice, 15 minutes apart. If they still don't answer after three attempts, we send an SMS alert to you and any family contacts you've designated. You control the escalation settings — who gets notified, in what order, and at what point. No one falls through the cracks.
How does the escalation system work?
Three levels: retry calls (two more attempts at 15-minute intervals), SMS alert to the person themselves, then notification to family contacts. Each level is logged with a timestamp so you have a clear record. You can configure which contacts are notified at each level from your dashboard.
Is this a replacement for 911?
No. Avvizo is a wellness companion, not an emergency service. In emergencies, always call 911. What Avvizo does is help catch patterns that might signal a problem before it becomes an emergency — a missed call, a low mood score, or a mention of a fall during conversation. It's a proactive layer, not a reactive one.
Does Avvizo meet Canadian lone worker regulations?
Yes. Avvizo's daily check-in calls, automated escalation, and compliance audit trail are designed to meet WorkSafeBC Sections 4.21–4.22, Alberta OHS Part 28, and Ontario OHSA Section 25 requirements for lone worker check-in procedures. Story Capture
What is Story+?
Story+ is our $49/mo plan that weaves life story prompts into calls on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday when your loved one is in good spirits. Over months and years, these conversations compile into a rich archive of their life — memories, relationships, values, and voice. That archive becomes the foundation for a printed hardcover memoir book.
How does story capture work?
The AI naturally transitions to story questions mid-call when the wellness check-in is going well — something like "Tell me about your childhood home" or "What was your very first job?" Their response is transcribed, tagged by theme and time period, and stored in your Story Timeline. Nothing feels forced or clinical; it flows like a natural conversation.
What themes are covered?
Over 20 themes including childhood, family and relationships, career, love and marriage, travel, food and recipes, holidays and traditions, coming-to-Canada stories, wisdom and advice, friendship, music and passions, tough times and resilience, and more. The AI rotates through themes over time, building a well-rounded portrait of their life.
Billing
What's the difference between plans?
Starter ($14.99/mo) is SMS + app check-in only — no AI calls, great for tech-resistant families easing in. Essential ($29/mo) adds the daily AI phone call. Story+ ($49/mo) adds life story capture woven into calls three days a week. Family Bundle ($79/mo) covers up to four people on Story+ — ideal for families with multiple aging parents or grandparents.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, no contracts. Cancel from your dashboard at any time. Your subscription remains active through the end of your current billing period, and your call history and transcripts remain accessible if you ever choose to reactivate.

Privacy & Security
Can I listen to call recordings?
Transcripts and AI wellness summaries are available on your dashboard within minutes of every call ending. Audio recordings are stored securely and are accessible only to you and family members you explicitly invite. All recordings are used exclusively for your family's use — never for training, marketing, or third-party purposes.
Is their data safe?
Yes. Avvizo is PIPEDA (Canada) compliant with encrypted data storage and Row-Level Security on all database records — meaning your data is only ever visible to you and the family members you've authorized. We never sell personal data. All data is stored in Canada.
What about medication reminders?
You can set medication reminders that the AI works into the conversation naturally — a gentle "Did you remember to take your morning medications?" rather than a clinical checklist. You control what reminders are set; Avvizo simply carries them into the conversation. These are reminders you've set, not medical instructions from us.
